“John Ferullo has created a wonderful album here of serious in-depth and emotionally resonant songwriting. The acoustic guitar playing is fluidly plucked, seasoned, and gloriously melodious. -Americana Highways review of “Changes” ”
John Ferullo
Original songs and folkie covers.
My music has several defining characteristics:
Storytelling first. My songs are narratives about ordinary people, small towns, family, work, love, and life's unexpected turns. Rather than focusing on flashy production, the lyrics carry the emotional weight.
Acoustic folk sound. Most performances feature just voice and fingerpicked or strummed acoustic guitar, creating an intimate coffeehouse feel.
Influenced by classic folk writers., artists such as Woody Guthrie, Steve Goodman, Bill Morrissey, Greg Brown, Mississippi John Hurt, John Prine, and Tom Rush. Those influences show up in conversational lyrics, gentle humor, and focus on memorable melodies.
Warm, conversational performances. Reviews often compare his live shows to "sitting on a front porch," mixing songs with stories
I have been playing my own songs and other's folk and acoustic music in coffee houses, restaurants, festivals, bars and anywhere else for about ten years. I also run an open stages in the area where I get to meet many wonderful musicians.
I am available for private shows, fund raisers, various functions that can use low key back ground music as well as coffee shops other small venues.
"Red Tailed Hawk" released on June 1 2026 was #38 on the FAI Folk Chart for June 2026
